Weekends are good

Nothing much else for me to look forward to nowadays other than weekends. When you have a shitty job, you'd know how precious weekends become.

Its Saturday midnight as I'm blogging this, but I've had a great weekend so far. Everything thats important to me is around me. Planned a BBQ for my good friend Gordon, who's travelling to Oz land for work. And how far have we progressed.....

I've gotten to know Gordy through my Poly (TAFE for Ozlanders) studies in Singapore. We didn't really connect instantly when we first met cos I thought he was a bit of a bullshit artiste, always had something to say yeah....it was only in my second year at poly when I decided to move towards Food Science that I gotten to know him betta. We spent a lot of time together, with our studies, projects, social outings and stuff and became really good friends through our army times. I remembered celebrating his 21st birthday at the British Club (he was from a privileged background but he never showed it) where I got so pissed from the free flow booze (finished 3/4 of a bottle of vodka neat) that I was throwing up as I was doing guard duty in the army camp(that would have been a jail term offence). After the army, we decided to pursue our food science studies in Sydney, and enrolled together into the uni of New South Wales. Moved into town house with 2 other Singaporeans and finished off our studies.

Would have been great wouldn't it? Of course we had to have some major drama in between.

Now we had 4 Singaporean boys living together with an Australian born Chinese girl.
First try to imagine the sexual tension. (I can guarantee you there was none from my end)
Then the girl decides to open her mouth to talk about sensitive issues i.e. religion.
Things exploded and Gordy got pissed off with the rest of the group.
Problem would have been solved if the girl moved out.
Alas, she's already sucked one of the guys into her web.
Me and Gordy decide not to talk anymore.
Gordy moves out. Still not talking.
Started talking again after half a year, but on a polite/fake basis.
Started talking more genuinely with my visits back in Singapore.

So today was rather significant. We had chats over wine and BBQ. We've all grown up now. Gordon's a father now, I'm in semi married mode. Maturity does great things for your friendships.

I can definitely let that part of my life go now.

And for those of you who are concerned. Mardi Gras went really well last week. Just enough people for us to mingle and host, great weather (about 18-23 Deg C), enough food and drinks. I must say Mardi Gras is a great way to get to know your neighbours better. Those of you who were present would certainly know what I'm talking about.

Ok, more about the Asian trip and MG in my next few posts.
